Former Student Work
Reviewing Former Student Work!!
Roll Call:
This movie successfully coneys a teenage environment using props and costumes that make the actors appear like young troublemakers. The medium close-up shots emphasize the character interactions and encourage a feeling of connection. However, the lighting in the film is very dull. Furthermore, I also feel the camera angles lack creativity due to the repetitiveness. To improve the film, the students could’ve incorporated better more stylized props that represent the character traits better. Improved utilization of dynamic character angles and improved audio quality could also help the experience of the film as well.
New Everything:
In New Everything, the camera angles help convey the location of the film,
being a high school. However, the audio quality and sounds were not well
produced. The audio quality of the music is not the greatest and the sound
mixing is a little chopped. I feel to improve the film, it could use some color
grading, better more creative transitions, and high-quality audio equipment. In
addition, the mixed sounds should be better stitched,
Dreamland:
This film was very well made, the lighting and color grading was done nicely, and the camera angles & camera shots were well thought over, doing an excellent job of conveying the story. The transition from gentle and emotional to dark and depressing causes the pace of the film to feel sluggish was also nicely done. However, incorporating layered sounds could possibly enhance the film making the audience feel more immersed in the world. In addition, better transitions/cuts at the beginning would help the overall aspects of the film.
Dear Lover:
In this film, the handwritten notes and detailed shots created a sense of closeness while the soft lightning establishes such an emotional atmosphere. The movie does a very excellent job of engaging the audience with it’s narrative but struggles with the audio quality as dialogue sounds like its far away in some scenes. To improve, enhanced audio quality and fluent transitions would boost the quality of the overall film.
Dare to Thrill:
The lighting like the headlights/taillights enhance the
impacts of the night scene. The editing was also well-done. The fast transitions
and cuts add to the fast pace of the movie. The audio quality of the music
playing was also high unlike the other films. The lighting from inside the car
should be improved and maybe some more elements/props could be incorporated
such as graffiti or debris to increase the realism.
