Sound Design: In Depth

Hey everyone!! In today's blogpost I'm going to be discussing our sound design process throughout our short film. In this film we were very interested incorporating lots of upbeat music and exciting sounds to add to the film. One of the songs we wanted to use was "Last Friday Night" by Katy Perry for the beginning portion of our film, however, we'd get copyrighted. To counter this issue, as the editor/sound designer, I emailed Katy Perry's team and direct messaged her on Instagram, reaching out for permission to use her music. I have yet to receive an email back or response from her. My crew hasn't really decided what other songs/music we want to include in our project as we're still filming.

Some struggles we've had with audio is the audio is the quality within the film. While editing I noticed that the quality of the sounds/audio isn't the best, since we were using basic stock equipment. I brought it up to my group the same week, looking for a solution. One of us suggested going to the BeaconTV please to rent better equipment for both lighting and sound. However, our only problem is transportation and how we're going to pick up the equipment. The audio quality could be a lot worse, but I think it could be ten times better.
