Who is our Main Character?

 

Hi, readers!
Today, I’ll be diving into the main character analysis for the opener of my project. Our main character is Jasmine, a high school girl who’s heading out on a date with the most popular guy in school. For her character, we wanted to embrace the stereotypical “girly girl” trope seen in pop culture. Jasmine is bubbly, always happy, and thrives on gossip and drama.

We worked to highlight her girly personality through various elements, including makeup as a prop, feminine costumes, and upbeat music that plays each time she’s on screen. These details come together to reinforce her cheerful and outgoing personality.

As a person, Jasmine could probably be described as an airhead. Her main priorities revolve around parties, maintaining her popularity, cheering, and upholding the status quo. This makes her someone who is very focused on pleasing others and saving face, even at the expense of her own judgment.

Her portrayal as clueless and focused on shallow priorities ultimately leads to her downfall. In the opener, she’s warned about students being killed but brushes it off to maintain her positive and carefree image. This decision contributes to the shocking twist of her being stabbed at the end.
