Color Grading

How this film taught me to see colors differently.

Working on this film truly opened my eyes to the power of color grading. In fact, it inspired me so much I felt the need to write a separate blog about it. Color grading is so powerful it can change the entire feel of a project. Before diving into editing, I didn't fully realize how much of an impact color has on the mood and tone of a scene. Just by adjusting and tweaking the hues, shadows, and highlights, I learned the same footage could feel completely different just by altering a couple faders and buttons.

This experience taught me to pay more attention to colors in a way I never did before. Now, whenever I watch films or even look at photos, I find myself analyzing the colors and wondering how they achieved those specific tones. I find it very fascinating how something so subtle such as a color shift, can build suspense, tension, and intimacy. This tool was essential in creating our film, and helped us go from bright and happy to dark and gloomy effectively.
