My thoughts so far (review)
My Thoughts.
Hey readers! In today's blog post, I'm going to discuss my current thoughts on our project. So like I said in one of my previous blogs, I believe changes need to be made. As I started editing, I realized that the way our story was structured didn't feel natural at all. Originally, we had a montage, a short dialogue, and a sudden killing scene all in two minutes. However, halfway through editing, as I got closer to the end the pace felt off and the thriller aspect wasn't really coming together as we intended.
We initially wanted to include the montage so we could show the audience the character's personality and routine before transitioning to the main plot. The issue is that the montage takes up way too much time. Almost a full minute of the film. Since our film isn't supposed to be too long, the montage felt like an unnecessary section rather than something meant to improve the story. Additionally, another major problem that didn't sit right with me was the killing happening during the day. Thrillers, heavily rely on the atmosphere to create a sense of danger and suspense. However, having the killing scene take place in broad daylight kind of took away from the tension build-up and made the entire film feel random instead of unsettling. Without the correct build-up and anticipation, I feel like our film will feel more abrupt rather than suspenseful. I have an idea of how we can fix this issue and will discuss it in the future. Until then, goodbye!
