Specific Camera Shots & Angles

Breaking Down Our Camera Shots & Angles

    Shot 1: Doing Makeup

In this first shot, we focus on the main character doing her makeup. By focusing on the character doing her makeup, we wanted to highlight her happy and carefree attitude. This shot was essential to contributing to the upbeat mood at the beginning of the film. The noticeable difference between this shot and the upcoming darker moments makes the shift more impactful. This reinforces the film's cohesiveness and progression.

    Shot 3: One the Phone

In this next shot, we show the main character on the phone with her so-called "date". We used this shot to establish dialogue and introduce the main character's interaction with someone off-screen. This shot was absolutely necessary to show the audience who she was on the phone with and why she was getting ready, and doing her makeup. By focusing on this specific phone conversation, we were able to emphasize its importance and allow the audience to hear important information without needing to see both characters in the same setting.

Shot 2: Walking Down the Stairs

This next shot is the main character walking down the stairs after she gets off the phone with her date. This shot was used to show/incorporate movement and change in the environment. As the main character moves from her room to outside the lighting and atmosphere change in between, creating a contrast between the spaces. The darker tone in this scene foreshadows a shift in mood. This shot was necessary so we could build anticipation and maybe some suspense.
